01JEWELLERY

Match the Weight, Not Just the Colour

Keep jewellery proportional to what's already happening on the outfit. A heavily embroidered piece needs restraint elsewhere — one statement piece, like a maang tikka or a choker, is usually enough. A plainer silhouette, on the other hand, gives you more room to layer jewellery or go bolder with a single striking piece.

Footwear for Long Events

Weddings and receptions often mean hours on your feet. Block heels or platforms tend to outlast strappy heels through a long evening, especially at outdoor venues or anywhere you'll be standing or dancing for extended periods. Comfort and formality aren't mutually exclusive if you choose the right heel shape early.

03HAIR & MAKEUP

Let Hair and Makeup Follow the Outfit

A detailed neckline or heavy embroidery around the shoulders reads best with hair pulled back or up, so the embroidery actually stays visible instead of being hidden. A plainer silhouette gives you more room to play with loose waves or a bolder lip. Matching the finish matters too — matte fabrics generally pair well with dewy, natural makeup, while satin, sequin or mirror-work pieces can carry more shine without looking overdone.

04LAYERING

Layering for Multiple Functions

If you're dressing for a wedding week with several functions, a few versatile pieces go further than a full new outfit for every event. A tailored jacket or cape over a slip dress, or a dupatta draped asymmetrically over a Western silhouette, can shift the same piece from a daytime function to an evening one.
